On a deep blue night

With Star up above

Came a tiny baby

Whose name was Love.

Born to suffer,

Born to die,

Born to save

Both you and I.

Tiny hands,

Later crucified,

And then arisen

For you and I.

The greatest Love

Came down to earth

And with this Love

New Life gives birth.

 

This piece highlights the blue hues of the night of the Incarnation.  The reds show the crimson thread, the purpose of the Lord Jesus to die as an atoning sacrifice for the guilt of the world.  The whites show the purity and holiness of Divine Love.

Encaustic is an ancient art medium using beeswax, resin and pigment applied to wood at 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
