Caroline Camden Lewis. Growth. Acrylic on canvas. 24″ x 36.” (2013). $750 USD–SOLD
Some seasons in our lives are particularly memorable as periods of growth. Though uncomfortable physically and emotionally, we know that new life is emerging. This pieces focuses on the mixture of cleansing (white) with growing. The nails at the center represent the pain of growth. The way the nails create a tightness or a taught canvas reveals the way in which the cleansing creates a tightness in our lives. Ultimately growth provides the way to beauty and that, indeed, is a work of art.
